Joshua P Fershée, JD, Dean and Professor of Law, Creighton University School of Law discusses the state of legal education today, how the legal profession is evolving (or not), and how law schools and those in the legal profession are working to support and serve the clients of today and tomorrow.
The presentation includes some examples from the classroom to help demonstrate how professors are working to educate the next generation of lawyers and covers new programs at Creighton Law that are helping students prepare for practice. Dean Fershée also comments on the impact of the pandemic on law schools and law firms and reflects upon the evolving nature of the bar exam (including the uniform bar exam and new lawyer certification proposals). Finally, the presentation provides some perspective on how the legal profession, from law schools to law firms to other organizations, is responding to an increasingly diverse population of clients and students, and how it can do more and better.
