Jeff Philips Joins Murphy Desmond Team

MADISON, Wisconsin, Jan. 12 - Murphy Desmond S.C. welcomes attorney Jeffery Phillips to the firm's Creditors' Rights, Business Bankruptcy and Litigation practice groups. 

Jeff has experience representing clients in bankruptcy, creditor and debtor rights, business reorganization, receiverships, collections, and commercial litigation. He also works with business clients in contracts and disputes. Prior to joining Murphy Desmond, Jeff managed a solo practice in Madison.

His bankruptcy experience includes representing Wisconsin-based clients as debtors and creditors in Chapter 7, Chapter 11, and Chapter 13 cases, including adversary proceedings and related litigation.

Jeff has represented clients including debtors, creditors, receivers and trustees in Wisconsin Chapter 128 receivership proceedings, collections, foreclosures, and other commercial and business litigation matters. He has assisted clients across a range of industries, including finance, manufacturing, food/beverage, and construction.

In addition to debtor and creditor rights matters, Jeff handles civil litigation matters including collections, contractual disputes, and construction litigation. He also handles business transactional work such as contract drafting, negotiating, and disputes.

He was admitted to the Bar in Wisconsin in 2006, after graduating from University of Wisconsin Law School the same year and became member of the Illinois State Bar Association in 2007. From 2013 through to 2021 he has been acknowledged as Wisconsin Super Lawyers Rising Stars. He is a member of American Bankruptcy Institute and Western District Bankruptcy Bar (Formerly Chair and Vice-Chair).


Jeff is based in the firm’s Madison office and can assist clients in our Dodgeville and Janesville offices, as well.
