SQ Law Behind Master Recovery Program for FNG Fashion Group

Jan 20, 2021 – Brussels, Belgium

FNG Fashion Group, one of the largest of this kind in Europe, has run into major financial problems in 2020 when the Belgium stock authority (FSMA) discovered irregularities in the financial reporting of the group. A criminal investigation was launched and some of the top executives in the group were arrested. Several of the subsidiary companies in the Netherlands and in Belgium were declared bankrupt but the holding survived in 2020 and the subsidiaries were granted time to develop a detailed re-organisation plan.

At the end of 2020 and the beginning of 2021 SQ Legal, Legal Netlink Alliance Brussels member firm, and firm leading partner Geert LENSSENS were consulted by an important group of bondholders including institutional investors and investment funds that fear to have lost their money. SQ Law designed a master recovery program including different initiatives within the criminal investigation as well as several other specific legal actions.

FNG group incorporates many brands such as CLAUDIA STRÄTER, Miss ETAM, BRANTANO, FRED & GINGER and others.

Geert G.R. Lenssens is SQ Legal leading partner, co-founder and active member of LNA and member of the commission litigation of the UIA Paris (International Association of Lawyers). He has a 30+ year expertise in national and international litigation and he also has a long expertise as a Deputy Judge (Commercial Court) and as a business mediator. This experience results in an exceptional expertise creating a three-dimensional view on legal issues. His law practice areas include all types of banking, insurance, corporate and commercial claims, as well as mass actions and class actions in which he successfully recovered considerable compensations for his clients (companies or consumers) or protected companies from liability issues.
