 Michael J. Allen dedicates his practice to protecting clients’ rights and assets, including their contract rights, intellectual property rights, shareholder rights, estate rights, and creditors’ rights. His unique blend of experience in negotiating, contracting, counseling, and litigation helps him provide meaningful insight to clients at any stage of their business relationships. Though Mike’s goal is to protect each client’s interests without the need for litigation, he is poised to litigate vigorously when necessary. He has substantial experience litigating business, commercial, and contract disputes, including those involving non-competition, non-solicitation and non-disclosure agreements, intellectual property rights, fraud, unfair competition, and unfair trade practices. Mike earned his B.A., magna cum laude, from Westminster College in 1982 and his J.D. from the University of Notre Dame School of Law in 1985.

 Mike was also listed in the 2023 edition of The Best Lawyers in America for his work in Commercial Litigation, Litigation – Intellectual Property, Trade Secrets Law, and Trademark Law. He was previously recognized by Best Lawyers as Greensboro Copyright Law “Lawyer of the Year” for 2017 and 2019 and Triad Copyright Law “Lawyer of the Year” for 2021.

 June L. Basden is both an attorney and a Certified Public Accountant with over 35 years of experience in commercial finance and banking law. She represents national and regional banks, financial institutions and commercial lenders in a variety of finance transactions, with a special focus on commercial lending and creditors' rights. June has extensive experience in asset-based lending, factoring, single-lender and syndicated credit facilities, loan workouts and modifications, foreclosures, bankruptcies, and commercial real estate transactions. She received her B.S., summa cum laude, from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1983 and her J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law at Chapel Hill in 1986.

 June was also listed in the 2023 edition of The Best Lawyers in America for her work in Banking and Finance Law, Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights / Insolvency and Reorganization Law, and Commercial Transactions / UCC Law. J. Scott Dillon is the senior attorney in Carruthers & Roth’s Business, Tax and Estates department. He has a broad-based business, corporate, and transactional practice that includes handling personal and estate-related matters for the owners and their families. Scott has 40 years of experience dealing with legal issues affecting businesses and counseling with business owners on such matters, as well as drafting and negotiating business contracts. He is the go-to attorney at the firm on matters relating to the design and operation of qualified retirement plans, nonqualified deferred compensation plans, employee benefits, and self-directed IRA transactions. Scott earned his B.A., cum laude, from North Carolina State University in 1979 and his J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law at Chapel Hill in 1983.
